All posts for the month March, 2012

I went to Mumbai, India, last month to judge YOUDH, India's first ever event to feature a house competition. I judged alongside bboy Sonic and Kundu, a U.S. native who spent years dancing in the New York scene. What's significant about Kundu and I being there is that the majority of India's house dancers learned firsthand from Kundu and my Youtube videos. House is just starting to bloom in India and I was extremely honored to be part of the event. Besides Mumbai, I also taught several workshops in Kolkota. Click here to see my Facebook album documenting my trip. Also, here is a video of me and Kundu's judges' showcase from YOUDH. Enjoy.

Before I go, I just wanted to ask: who are the biggest influences in your area in terms of house dance? Do you have specific teachers/dancers there that most people learn/copy from? For example, a large number of people in the states generally believe that Serial Steppers are a big influence in France and that the same goes for Hiro of Alma in Japan. For those who live in France and Japan, are these statements accurate? I'm interested to hear your answers.
